Jo grew up in Herzogenrath, a town in Germany near the imperial city of Aachen, where he still lives and works.
He started DJing at parties while he was still at school. Despite the fact that it remained mostly private events, even here as a DJ he felt this energy that developed between him and the audience as he pushed the dancers on and on and thus gave them joy. And it was exactly this joy that you feel when you dance for hours through the night to house music that was the reason for him to start producing his own tracks.
In the middle of the 90s, he started to buy the necessary equipment to be able to make music himself. At that time, it was a Roland R8-MKII drum machine, a Korg DW-8000 synthesizer and an Atari 1040 STE. With the help of a borrowed 8-track mixer he was able to record his first and at that time only house track NYC at the end of 1995/beginning of 1996, but he never released it.
Although he enjoys listening to music from other genres and certainly counts some of them among his influences, house music is the genre he feels most comfortable with. It's simply where he feels the most of that same energy and joy of life.
Jo is a big fan of the Roland TR-909 and loves it when the kick drum is slightly distorted. The whole thing paired with groovy arrangements of some other TR-909 sounds as well as various other percussion elements round off his beat. He also loves the sound of the Korg M1. Many of the classics from the 90s already used these sounds and for him they are simply timeless and contribute a lot to the above mentioned energy.
Having grown up with Depeche Mode and Kraftwerk in his childhood, there was a phase towards the end of his Sturm und Drang period, in the early 90s, with a focus on electronic body music. Musically, the band Nitzer Ebb set the tone for him during this phase. This period was seamlessly followed by a short acid techno phase, which then led to house music in the mid-90s, where he has located his musical home ever since.
In the second half of the 90s, Jo began his professional training, after which he started his career. From then on, he only played occasionally at private events, but did not produce any music of his own. It wasn't until 20 years later, in 2020, that he started again.
